Village painted with flowers
Zalipie is a small village in the Krakow area. It is known for decorative painting, whose dominant motif are flowers. The traditions of painting in Zalipie date back to the end of the 19th century, but its special flourish took place after World War II. In Zalipie, not only houses, cottages and fences are decorated with floral motifs, but also barns, benches, flower beds, wells and even buckets. Some of the paintings are visible from afar, to find the others you need to look into the courtyards. Many huts are also decorated inside, but I was there on an off day and did not have the opportunity to visit the interiors. Maybe next time? I like going back to places that I like. And I liked Zalipie, even though the museum climate is definitely not my favourite one.
